Accessibility

The services on this site are for everyone in the South Plains, so the site itself has to work for everyone too, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, or other assistive technology.

Our standard

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, and we are working toward WCAG 2.2 Level AA. In practice, that means:

  • Text descriptions for every meaningful image.
  • Full keyboard navigation, with a visible focus indicator and a “skip to main content” link on every page.
  • Color contrast that meets or exceeds the AA requirement.
  • Forms with clear labels and error messages that say what to fix.
  • Pages that work at 200% zoom and on small screens.

How we test

We check this site with automated tools, including contrast checks on every color in the design and axe accessibility scans, and by hand with a keyboard and a screen reader. Last reviewed August 21, 2026.
