What we collect
You do not need an account to use this site. We collect personal information only when you choose to submit one of our forms:
- Contact form: your name, email address, the topic and subject you choose, and your message.
- 911 address requests: your contact information and details about the property that needs an address, which may include map coordinates.
- Storm shelter registry: your name, phone number, email address if you give one, preferred language, the shelter’s address and location on the property, and any access notes you choose to provide. Sharing your device’s precise location (GPS coordinates) is optional and happens only when you tap the button that asks for it. Captured coordinates are stored with the registration and are visible only to authorized staff and responders.
- Safe room rebate applications: your name, mailing address, phone numbers, email address if you give one, and details about the home and the safe room you plan to install. The name you type as your signature is stored with the application.
- Academy inquiries and training registration: your name, contact information, agency, and course selections. Training registration also asks for your TCOLE PID, the identification number the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement assigns to each officer.
How we use it
We use what you submit to do the thing you asked for: answer your message, assign an address, register your shelter, review a rebate application, or process a training registration. Storm shelter registrations are added to the regional 911 map so emergency responders can locate registered shelters after a disaster.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for advertising. Storm shelter registry data is shared only with 911, emergency management, and authorized first responders. Safe room rebate applications are shared with the agencies that fund and approve the program, the Texas Division of Emergency Management and FEMA, and the address of a funded safe room is given to local 911 dispatch. Like most websites, we rely on service providers for hosting, database storage, and email delivery. They process data on our behalf and may not use it for their own purposes.
SPAG is a governmental entity, so some records may be subject to the Texas Public Information Act. State law protects the confidentiality of certain 911 and emergency information, and we apply those protections.
Cookies
This site does not use advertising or analytics cookies. The only cookies we set are the essential ones that keep authorized staff signed in to the administrative area. If you dismiss a site announcement, your browser remembers that on your device. Nothing is sent to us.
Updating or removing your information
Because SPAG is a governmental entity, some of what you submit becomes part of records we are required to keep. Contact us or call (806) 762-8721 to request a correction, or to ask whether a record, including a storm shelter registration, can be updated or removed under records retention and public information rules. Mention the reference number from your confirmation if you have one.
How long we keep it
We keep contact messages, 911 address requests, academy inquiries, and training registrations for six years, then staff review and delete them. For training registrations, the six years start on the class date. Storm shelter registrations stay on file while they are part of the active responder map. Contact us if you want yours removed. Safe room rebate applications are grant records and are kept for as long as the program requires.
